Ricochet · Moonlit Gardens
Privacy policy

Your garden. Your progress.

Ricochet: Moonlit Gardens saves your game on your device. Steam Cloud can sync the Steam edition's saves, and iCloud can sync earned progress between supported Apple devices. You do not need to create a separate Ricochet account. We do not use advertising SDKs, behavioural advertising or cross-app tracking.

Effective 5 November 2026. This policy covers the Ricochet game and these player support pages, including cloud saves, platform achievements and Steam and Discord game activity. Contact the developer at rob@cat.town about privacy or your data.

Website statistics

On ricochet.trinestudios.co, our Studio Control service counts page views, Steam and App Store link clicks, gameplay-video starts and press downloads. A random browser identifier is stored locally for up to 90 days; the service stores a project-specific hash of it for up to 90 days. These counts estimate browsers, not identifiable people. We do not collect account details, page URLs, query strings or link text for these statistics, and do not join them to game or Apple accounts.

The tracker respects browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. It sends counts to stats.trinestudios.co, hosted by Cloudflare. A short-lived hash of the network address is used for rate limiting; the address is not stored with our analytics. Browser storage restrictions, blocking and automated traffic can affect totals. Website clicks do not tell us whether someone wishlists or installs the game.

Apple saves and optional iCloud sync

On Apple devices, your current shot, downloaded Daily board and device preferences stay on your device. In iCloud-enabled builds, completed missions, stars, best scores, challenge unlocks, tutorial completion, achievement progress and recent Daily results are also stored in your iCloud account to restore and merge progress between your Apple devices. This gameplay content is linked to your iCloud account and used only for this app feature. Recent Daily history is limited to 366 entries; retry counts keep the highest known count across devices.

The game uses Apple's iCloud key-value storage. Sync is enabled by default when available and can be paused in Options → Help & Privacy → iCloud Saves. Apple schedules transfers; progress remains local while offline. An opaque account token is kept locally to detect account changes and pause syncing; it is not included in the cloud save or sent to us. The game does not receive your Apple email address or password. Purchase ownership is checked separately through StoreKit.

Apple holds the cloud copy under Apple's privacy policy. We do not send saved progress to our Daily service or use it for advertising or analytics. Deleting the app can remove local data but does not itself request deletion of the iCloud copy. Device backups are controlled by your operating system and Apple settings.

Optional Game Center achievements

In Game Center-enabled iOS builds, choosing Connect Game Center in Achievements allows the game to send achievement identifiers and progress to Apple and read achievements already associated with your Game Center account. This gameplay content is linked to that account to synchronize achievements. The game keeps your Game Center player identifier locally to detect account changes and asks you to connect again before sharing progress with a different account. That identifier is not included in the iCloud save or sent to our Daily service.

We do not request your Game Center friends list, email address or password. Game Center is an Apple service with its own activity collection and sharing controls. Apple may display achievement activity according to your Game Center settings. See Apple's Game Center privacy information to manage activity sharing and understand Apple's handling of this information. You can earn local achievements without connecting Game Center.

Steam achievements, saves and activity

The Steam edition connects to the Steam client automatically. It sends earned achievement identifiers to Valve and reads achievements associated with your signed-in Steam account. Your Steam ID identifies a separate local save folder for that account and is also kept locally to detect account changes. Quit and restart the game after switching Steam accounts. If no Steam account is available at startup, the game uses a separate local save.

When Steam Cloud is enabled for Ricochet, the Steam client synchronizes the account's progress files before and after play. These files contain completed missions, stars, scores, unlocks, achievement progress, Daily results and saved in-progress runs. Sound, display and control preferences stay local. Steam Cloud and iCloud are separate; the game does not link your Steam and Apple accounts.

The Windows game also sends the current mode, garden or level and gameplay status to Steam for Rich Presence. Valve may display this activity and achievements according to your Steam profile settings. The game does not request your Steam friends list, email address or password, or send your Steam ID or saves to our Daily service.

Valve operates Steam and processes this information under Valve's privacy policy. Manage cloud syncing in Steam's settings and activity visibility through your profile privacy controls. Use Valve's account data tools for information held by Steam.

Discord game activity

On Windows, the game connects automatically to the running Discord desktop app for Rich Presence. It sends the current game mode, garden or level, gameplay status, session start time and game artwork identifiers to that client. Discord can display this activity with your Discord account according to your activity-sharing settings. This feature does not send scores or save files.

You do not sign into Discord inside Ricochet, and the game does not request your Discord email address or password. Manage visibility with Discord's activity-sharing controls. Discord handles this information under Discord's privacy policy.

Daily Challenges and this website

The game requests a public challenge file from our Cloudflare service when you open Daily Challenge. It sends no game account, advertising identifier, scores or saved progress. Your IP address and standard connection information are necessarily processed to deliver the file.

Cloudflare hosts and protects the service and may process technical connection information for operation, security and abuse prevention. We have disabled persistent Worker request logs and tracing. Our application database stores challenge content and publishing records, not player profiles. The Daily service counts how many times each day's challenge is downloaded, as daily totals by platform, without storing addresses or identifiers. The public website uses the limited statistics described above. Requests from the game to the Daily API are not counted as website visits.

Cloudflare operates internationally. Its handling of service and network information is explained in Cloudflare's privacy policy. We do not use this connection information for advertising or to build player profiles.

Android saves and Google Play purchases

On Android, progress and preferences stay on your device. Android cloud saving and transfer from iCloud are not available. App backup is disabled for the Android build. Uninstalling the game or clearing its storage removes these local saves.

Google Play handles payment for the story expansion under Google's privacy policy. The game receives a signed purchase record from Google Play to grant or restore access, verifies it on your device and acknowledges completed purchases to Google Play. The signed record is cached locally for offline access and checked again with Google Play when connectivity allows. It may include a purchase token, order identifier, product, purchase time and status. We do not send these records to our Daily service, receive your card details or receive your Google Account email or password through the game.

Apple purchases

Apple handles payment for The Journey Continues. The game checks verified StoreKit transactions on your device to grant or restore access. We do not receive your card details or send transaction records to our Daily service. Apple processes purchases under Apple's privacy policy.

If you contact support

We receive the email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request, investigate a problem and meet any applicable legal obligations. We keep support correspondence only for as long as needed for those purposes. Please include only information relevant to the problem.

Your choices and deletion

Story and Challenge Levels can be played without requesting the Daily file. Manage Steam Cloud through the Steam client and Steam or Discord activity visibility through those services' privacy controls.

iCloud sync can be paused in the game at any time. To request removal of your iCloud save, first pause syncing on all your other Apple devices, then choose Remove Cloud Copy and confirm in iCloud Saves. This pauses sync on that device and requests removal from Apple; your local progress is kept. Apple applies the deletion when it synchronizes. Another device that still syncs, or re-enabling sync later, can upload local progress again.

There is no separate game account to delete. Contact rob@cat.town to ask about, correct or request deletion of information held in support correspondence, or to exercise other applicable privacy rights. You may also contact your local data protection authority.

We do not sell personal information. We do not knowingly request personal information from children in the game. If a child has sent personal information to support, a parent or guardian can contact us for help removing it.

Changes

We will update this page and its effective date if the game's data practices change. Any future online features will be described here before release.
